Great question. Let's start with the short answer first
Unlike most Plumbers who provide a whole host of different services from central heating systems, boilers, underfloor heating, kitchen plumbing, bathroom plumbing etc. our bathroom teams, specialise in 'Just Bathrooms'. It's all in the name
This means we have the luxury of having experienced many different scenarios, including potential problems, and know what to expect. That experience also means we fully appreciate the planning involved in doing a full bathroom renovation and can provide you with an honest and realistic scope of work and timeframe, for completing the job. This in itself is often a key reason why people choose us
Another differentiator is the way we manage our projects. Bathrooms tend to require the skills of several different Trades including plasterers, electricians, tilers and obviously plumbers and unlike most plumbers who may tend to be working on several different jobs simultaneously, trying to manage all the different subbies, we focus on your project from start to finish, not flitting in and out
We also ensure that all the necessary Trades fall into place seamlessly, resulting in a much more streamlined, efficient, stress free project for you and your family which is hugely important, given how much a bathroom gets used
Now the long answer, and I wrote a full article on it, which you can find here
In most cases, we only work in Southampton and the surrounding areas (Fareham, Portsmouth, New Forest etc)
However, in certain circumstances, we may travel slightly further, as long as the work justifies it. We have more than enough work here so there is no real justification for us to expand our reach
Yes & No, let us explain
Yes we do run multiple jobs simultaneously (simply due to demand) but no, we don't stop and start jobs and here's how we do that
We have dedicated teams on every job and they are 100% responsible for seeing their particular job through to completion, before they start another one
That is non negotiable within our business because bathrooms get a lot of use and in a lot of cases, not having access to it for a long period of time, causes stress, so we do whatever we possibly can to avoid that
Among many other things, we pride ourselves on seeing through every single job, from start to finish, without any unnecessary delays, as we want to give you the greatest possible experience throughout the project
The only occasions you won't see anyone onsite, is if the room needs time to dry before the next step in the process (for example: plastering)
As with a lot of questions, the answer depends on a few different elements but let us share our standard scope of work, which we have found to be very accurate, so you can gauge each step, according to your own requirements
Day 1 - Strip out existing bathroom (suite and tiles)
Day 2/3 - Re-pipe plumbing to accommodate new location of components (toilet, bath, shower, sink, radiator etc and under floor heating if required)
Day 4 - Skim walls (and ceiling if required)
Day 5 - Plaster dry day
Day 6/7 - Fit new components
Day 8/9 - Tiling
Day 10 - Apply all the finishing touches ready to handover your stunning new bathroom
No FAQ section would be complete without discussions around price and as you've probably guessed, once again, it depends
Let us explain...
There are so many variables in a bathroom that dictate costs, these include: (but this list is not exhaustive)
- Size of room (believe it or not, smaller rooms sometimes take just as much time as bigger rooms, because of space constraints and the fact that you often need to be more efficient and cautious regarding design)
- Type of room (standard bathroom, ensuite, wet room, shower room etc)
- Quality (and type) of fixtures & fittings, have a dramatic impact on cost
- Tiling requirements have a huge effect on price (floor to ceiling, flooring, porcelain or ceramic, large or small tiles etc)
- Heating requirements (radiator, towel rail, under floor heating etc)
- Labour costs vary from one company to another
However, as a ballpark guideline for bathrooms renovated by us, in the majority of cases, our builds often come out round the £10-£12k mark, but in some instances, again, depending on the relevant options chosen above, can come down to as little as £5k
Like we said, it all depends
And here's something else to seriously consider, because we totally stand by the mantra,
Price is what you pay, but value is what you get!
So never just make your decision purely on price because there are so many other things to consider
One being whether you want your bathroom renovated by a specialist or generalist, the choice is yours
And one more very important point,
When you are comparing quotes, make 100% certain that your comparisons are like for like because in many cases, they're not. More often than not, it's like comparing apples with oranges
Not just in terms of the points referenced above, but also the overall experience (something we absolutely pride ourselves on, is the outstanding experience you get from start to finish)
In addition, we are so confident in the value we offer, that we never discount. The price we quote is our best price right from the outset
The only time our price comes down (if ever), is if compromises have to be made (on your behalf), in which case, elements get removed to try and meet your desired budget
In summary...
The price you pay is ultimately based on your requirements, your budget and the company you choose to go with
Just choose wisely!
